We Are Now CarePoint Response

For more than 30 years, our organization has shown up for individuals, families, and communities across Maryland with compassion, consistency, and care. Since 1992, we have provided behavioral health and emotional support as Baltimore Crisis Response, Inc. to people navigating mental health and substance use challenges—day and night, regardless of ability to pay.

Today, we are taking an important step forward.

BCRI is Now CarePoint Response.

This new name reflects who we are more clearly: a connected, community-based system of behavioral health support that helps people find the right care at the right moment. It reflects how our work has grown, how our partnerships have deepened, and how people experience our services every day, not as isolated programs, but as connected pathways to support, stabilization, and healing.

While our name is changing, our mission is not.

We continue to deliver high-quality behavioral health services and emotional support to individuals and communities navigating mental health and substance use challenges to ensure their health and well-being. We remain grounded in a vision of thriving communities where healing and mental wellness are possible for all.

Why CarePoint Response?

Names matter. They shape how people understand who you are, what you do, and whether they can see themselves in your work.

As our organization has evolved, so has the way we think about access, response, and connection. Our strategy work affirmed that compassionate and responsive behavioral health care is necessary during moments of need, and that more connected, community-driven systems support healing for all. The name CarePoint Response reflects that belief. It points to care as the center of our work and response as the commitment we make to individuals, families, partners, and communities every day.

It also better reflects the full scope of our role.

We are not only a call center. We are not only a mobile response provider. We are not only a residential program. We are a connected support system that includes 988 call center services, mobile response, residential and withdrawal management support, case management, youth care coordination, diversion programs, training, outreach, and system partnerships.

A Clearer Expression of Who We Are

Over time, our work has expanded in important ways.

As the regional administrator and one of the operators of the Central Maryland 988 Helpline, we have helped build a stronger front door to support across the region. Our mobile response work has continued to bring behavioral health professionals directly into the community. Our residential services, including the Crisis Residential Unit and withdrawal management support, continue to offer safe, structured care when more support is needed. Our case management and youth care coordination services help people and families stay connected to care, housing, benefits, schools, and community resources.

In recent years, our work has included expanded partnerships across Baltimore City and Maryland, leadership in 911 diversion and public-health-centered response, collaboration with public agencies and community organizations, increased support for youth and families, and deeper investment in organizational growth, compliance, staffing, technology, and data capacity.

The name CarePoint Response better reflects this reality. It captures the way support can begin in different places and how our services work together to help people feel safe, heard, and connected to what comes next.

What is Staying the Same

Although our name is new, the values that guide our work remain the same.

We are still people-centered. We still lead with collaboration, empathy, growth, and impact. We still believe that care works best when it is responsive, trauma-informed, and rooted in community. We still believe that individuals deserve support that meets them where they are and helps them move toward health and wellbeing.

Our commitment to access also remains unchanged.

We continue to provide support 24/7. We continue to answer 988. We continue to work alongside hospitals, public agencies, schools, providers, and community organizations. We continue to serve individuals navigating mental health and substance use challenges with dignity, compassion, and care.

Looking Ahead

This rebrand is not a departure from our past. It is an alignment with our future.

CarePoint Response reflects the organization we have become and the direction we are continuing to move toward: long-term sustainability, stronger data and impact practices, greater accessibility and innovation, and operational excellence that supports both the people we serve and the teams who make this work possible. Those priorities are central to our current strategy and will continue to shape how we grow.

As CarePoint Response, we will continue building a more connected, responsive, and community-based approach to behavioral health support in Maryland. We will continue strengthening partnerships. We will continue investing in care that is timely, people-centered, and effective. And we will continue working toward communities where healing and mental wellness are possible for all.

Thank you for growing with us

To our staff, partners, board members, funders, and community members: thank you for believing in this work and helping shape what it has become.

To the individuals and families who have trusted us in difficult moments: thank you for allowing us to walk alongside you.

We are proud of where we have been. We are clear about where we are going. And we are honored to move forward with a name that reflects the care, connection, and response at the heart of our work.

We are now CarePoint Response.
